Cardamom can be used as a sedative, analgesic, antispasmodic, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antimicrobial, anticonvulsant and as a diuretic. The literature reports some compounds found in cardamom like α-terpineol, myrcene, heptane, subinene, limonene, cineol, α-phellandrene, menthone, α-pinene, β-pinene, linalol, nerolidol, β-sitostenone, γ-sitosterol, phytol, eugenyl acetate, bisabolene, borneol, citronellol, p-cymene, geraniol, geranyl acetate, stigmasterol and terpinene.
